KUNMING: Yuantong Temple

Another place we had in our list of "not to miss" places , was the Temple of Yuantong.  (simplified Chinese: 圆通寺; traditional Chinese: 圓通寺; pinyin: Yuántōng Sì) This temple  is the most famous Buddhist temple in Kunming, Yunnan province, and  It is located in a protected natural depression  it is thus very special since it is different to most temples: instead of going up after entering the main gate, the area is even and you can see the main buildings at the same level. 
. In the 1950s, it hosted a grand ceremony to greet and send on the sacred teeth of the Buddha and so became important in Southeast Asia. See this link for more information about the temple.
Joselyn and I were very luky: we were able to see a beautiful ceremony and hear the moks chants

while we were there ( pictures were  not allowed  though).

Otro lugar que llevábamos en nuestra lista de "lugares que no debíamos perdernos" era el templo de Yuantong. Este templo es el templo Budista más famoso de Kunming en la provincia de Yunnan y se encuentra ubicado en una depresión natural, por ello es muy especial, ya que es diferente a la mayoría de estos templos: en vez de subir de nivel después de entrar por la puerta principal, el área es pareja y se pueden ver los edificios al mismo nivel.
en los años 50s,  una gran ceremonia tuvo lugar ahí para poder saludar el diente sagrado de Buda y esto le dió mayor relevancia en la región Sureste de Asia.
Joselyn y yo tuvimos mucha suerte ya que pudimos presenciar una bella ceremonia y escuchar los cantos de los monjes mientras estábamos ahí ( aunque no se permitía sacar fotos)
