THE APARTMENT

Hello again!
Sorry I had not published for a while... I had not been able to enter to blogger, because it seems the internal network does not like blogger or facebook. and besides, I have internet trhrough a modem, since the guy who came to repair internet could never make the wireless internet work.
I also found out that yahoo was  "discontinued" here... any way... the adventure just begins.... in  my apartment! so here are some pictures so that you have an idea of how it looks... when I saw the western toilet  ( something the the mexicans students that are here do not have) I could just say "YES!". The bed is great for my back problems because it is hard  and the kitchen is small but so far I have not needed using it much since we eat our midday meal at the teacher´s dinning hall (which is very vast, so we eat something light in the mornings and in the evenings). In case I want to cook I have an electric grill and a rice steamer I just need to buy a frying pan.

Joselyn and I have one more bedroom, in case our friends or family decide to pay us a visit... Joselyn has the microwave oven but I have the TV jeje! although I do not understand a thing, Right now I am beginning to understand when some words end!!!.

And as usual, at the beginning, I woke up at 3, 4 or 5 in the morning, due to the adjustment to our new time, and it was a little difficult to get used to our new bed.. but now.... I like it very much!!!

FINALLY!!! MY NEW HOME FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR

After  a few  days of my arrival, I can finally sit and start writing about my new adventure: - - not only because I did not have the time, but also because I could not access Blogger, Facebook or even You Tube, It was definetly an excellent idea to down load all those videos I am using in my classes before coming here... all that time on the computer was worth !!!!... thanks Fer! ; And here I want to thank  Ivan, one of the 12 mexican students from my university we are sharing this experience with, because he made it possible for me to use blogger and  start this  blog I hope you find it both , interesting and useful!.
First, and before going back to the planning of my lessons,  I would like to introduce you to the university where I will be teaching Spanish:  Chongqing University of Science and Technology  http://www.cqust.cn / (check the page , although it is written in Chinese, it does have some information in English , just click on  the "english"  bottom!

This university is found, together with other universities in what they call "University town" which in not so close to the downtown area... Chonqing is in the Eastern part of South West China, about 2,500km up the yangtze river from Shangai and, according to a 2008 handbook I found, it has 40 districts, cities and counties. It covers an area of 82 000 square kilometers and its  population  goes over 30 million , and only in the urban city of Chongqing you find over 6 million people !. Chongqing is known as the "mountain city" and  so far I have seen misty mornings since my arrival....
It was kind of hot when I arrived (I guess because of the humidity) but two days ago, the temperature dropped drastically and we got low temperatures and a very light rain, but still, I had to take out the blanket that was kept in the closet for winter (I must thank claudia, the former teacher of Spanish from my university, who left that blanket and some other stuff for the "new teacher" that means ME!!!!.

And for an air view of the city... here is the link of a video that Joselyn, my cooworker, sent me  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zIG1yKyVwag&feature=share.... it is really nice since it includes night views!.
