STONE FOREST

We visited one of the major attractions near Kunming: the place? A place called Stone Forest (120km from Kunming) Anoter "must see" in our long list! The Stone Forest or Shilin (Chinese: 石林; pinyin: Shílín) is a notable set of limestone formations located in Shilin Yi Autonomous County, Yunnan Province. Since 2007, two parts of the site, the Naigu Stone Forest (乃古石林) and Suogeyi Village (所各邑村), have been UNESCO World Heritage Sites as part of the South China Karst.
It was amazing!, Not only because there were many people but because there, we could see stones in various shapes: Animals, plants, and even human figures!.More info here!

 According to a beautiful legend about this park, the forest is the birthplace of Ashima (阿诗玛), a beautiful girl of the Yi people. After falling in love she was forbidden to marry her chosen suitor and instead turned into a stone in the forest that still bears her name. Each year on the 24th day of the sixth lunar month, many Yi people celebrate the Torch Festival (火把节 Huǒbă Jié), which features folk dances and wrestling competitions.

Stone Forest o Shilin (Chino: 石林; pinyin: Shílín) es un conjunto de formaciones rocosas que se encuentra en el condado autónomo de Shilin Yi en la provincia de Yunnan. desde el  2007, dos partes de este lugar fueron declaradas "Patrimonio de la Humanidad" por la UNESCO:  Naigu Stone Forest (乃古石林) y Suogeyi Village (所各邑村), 

Estuvo increíble! no sólo por la cantidad de gente sino también porque ahí pudimos ver rocas con varias formas: animales, plantas, hasta figuras humanas!.

Según una hermosa leyenda sobre este parque, es el lugar donde nació  Ashima (阿诗玛), grupo de los  Yi, a quien habiéndose enamorado de un joven, Cada año en el día  24 del sexto mes lunar, mucha gente Yi celebra el Festival de la Antorcha (火把节 Huǒbă Jié), durante el cual se realisan bailes y competencias de lucha.
