The city of Lìjiāng

Lìjiāng (simplified Chinese: 丽江; traditional Chinese: 麗江) 

Lijiang City was under the rule of the Mu family (木氏) local commanders (土司) during the Ming Dynasty andQing Dynasty.

The Baisha Old Town was the political, commercial and cultural center for the localNaxi people and other ethnic groups  from  658 AD to 1107 AD. 

In ancient times, the Baisha Old Town used to be the center of silk embroidery in the southwest of China and the most important place of the Ancient Southern Silk Road, also called the Ancient Tea and Horse Road or Ancient tea route. The Ancient Southern Silk Road started from Burma, crossed Lijiang, Shangri-La County, Tibet, journeyed through Iran, the Fertile Crescent, and ultimately to the Mediterranean Sea.

Naxi women were well known for their hand-made embroidery before 1972 during theGreat Cultural Revolution. 

Particularly after China started to admit foreign tourists in the 1980s, Lijiang began to attract visitors. To fulfill their needs, local people started restaurants and  stores selling  any handcraft you can think of !!!

 

La ciudad de  Lijiang, gobernada por la familia  Mu  (木氏) , comandantes locales (土司) en los tiempos de las dinastías  Ming y Qingy.

Este antiguo pueblo  Baisha fue el centro político, cultural y comercial de la gente local (los Naxi) y de otros grupos étnicos de 658 AD a 1107 AD. 

IEn tiempos remotos, este antiguo pueblo Baisa solía ser el centro de el bordado en seda del area Suroeste de China  y el sitio más importante en la ruta de la seda.. Conocida también como  la ruta antigua del Té y del caballo . La antigua ruta de la seda en el sur empezaba en  Burma, cruzaba Lijiang, Shangri-La,  Tibet,  atravesaba Iran, hasta llegar al mar  Mediterraneo.

Las mujeres Naxi  eran muy famosas por sus bordados antes de  1972 durante la Gran Revolución Cultural. 

Después de que china se abre al turismo extranjero en los 1980s, Lijiang comenzó a atraer visitantes y para llenar sus necesidades, los locales empezaron a establecer restaurantes, hoteles y tiendas de todo tipo de artesanías !!!
