The old town of Dali, is what we also enjoyed a lot... with its typical yunnan constructions, its stores, its water flowing along the streets and of course... its gates!!!
The old city Dali is also called Yucheng (Yu City). It locates at the foot of Cangshan Mountain in Yunnan Province, 300 kilometres northwest of Kunming, Dali City is the economic and cultural center of the Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. The area is surrounded by mountains on the east, west, and south, and has the Erhai Lake in its center.
Present day Dali is a city that combines history with modern convenience. It is divided into two areas- the Ancient City and the New District (widely known as Xiaguan). The Ancient City is centered around the ancient city of Dali, first built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Ancient buildings, city walls and the old city moat are the sites most frequented by visitors. The famous Foreigner Street in the Ancient City attracts visitors with its handicrafts, and local culinary delicacies.
Al Centro Histórico también se le conoce como Yucheng (ciudad Yu ) y está localizado al pié de las montañas Cangshan en Yunnan a 300 kilometros al noroeste de Kunming, Dali es el centro económico y cultural de la prefectura autónoma Dali Bai. El Area está rodeada por montañas al Este al oeste y al sur y tiene al lago Erhai en el centro.
La Dali actual combina la historia antigua co n lo moderno. =dividida en dos areas-el centro histórioc y el nuevo distrito (conocido como Xiaguan). El centro Histórico se empezó a cosntruir durante la dinastía Ming (1368-1644). Existe una calle llamada la calle de los extranjeros, donde se pueden encontrar tiendas, vares y comida .
